lift pump nipple thread size

Can you unthread the nipple on the lift pump? i want to run a solid line or something better than the rubber that is on there for just startup purposes (i am in the process of a conversion.) also if you can what size a/n fitting will work. also how big should i go i dont plan on being over 300 horse at anytime in the future, but maybe

Inlet thread to the lift pump is 1/4npt. Go with at least 3/8"ID hose, or -6an.
