Last LP question

Should I hear the pump prime when I turn on the key while waiting for the wait to start light is on, not bump the starter.

Thanks
Bill.

As soon as I say this someone will correct me, been a long time since I was stock. But no the pump should only run after you have bumped the starter. If I remember right I think I did used to get a quick spike of fuel pressure with the wait light though.

All right, I went out and got a quick surge no longer than it takes you to say this "PSSST" and a quick reading on the gauge to 3psi. Next time up to 6 psi, wait 5 seconds or so and 3 psi again.

I'M GOING NUTS AND SHOULD JUST REPLACE THIS STUPID PUMP

All things being equal, I do have a very small leak on a NPT fitting to the fuel gauge isolator, never a drop from the fitting but can get some fuel when I touch the bottom side of the fitting. I was told none of the fittings AN/JIT fittings didn't need anything but I forgot about the 1 NPT fitting. What should I use on that fitting to stop the leak. I would imagine teflon tape would be eaten up pretty quickly by diesel fuel.

Use liquid sealant. Keep it back off the first few threads.

You should only hear a quick buzz noise when the key is turned and the pump first cycles. This produces a reading of 5 psi for less than a second then drops to zero. When I bump the starter, I get 14 psi. I'm getting 14 @ idle, 12 @ cruise and can't get it below 10 1/2+ @ WOT. I wouldn't be concerned about the fuel pressure when the truck's not running. What readings are you getting while driving?
