I was just wondering if my truck with mods will have any problems pulling this pull behind (10k), my turbo right now is giving me a little grief with surging...Any suggestions...
What turbo are you running? Is it the stock turbo? I never had a surge issue with my stock turbos.
Both of my trucks will tow my boat at 10k. However when I try to pull my 12k toy hauler I have some surging on the 64/71/13ss equipped truck. Not on the other one.

Yeah its the stocker in there, i talked to a couple of guys here in canada and they told me that id have to do more mods before the turbo upgrade( head studs, sticks then turbo+ two peice manifold) but i dont really want to get a huge turbo. Do i really need these steps first, i want to do it right the first time aswell..??
I tow a 35' Camper with my '06 2500 (stock except for an upgraded VB/TQ from Goerend) with no problems. I run the Smarty on TQ level 4 and Timing 4 - and it pulls like a champ. We have been all over the east coast (Virginia down to Fla) and I have not had any major issues. The EGTs are very much kept in check (1400deg max) and I set the cruise around 62.
Just food for thought...

Mine has just been surging on me thats why i was worried, it would surge going up a hill and when not even pulling anything. She didnt even grunt when i pulled it so im happy
A stock turbo should not surge....bark, yes...but not surge. It sounds like you may have an issue somewhere.
Ok bark then, i was told the proper name for that was surge and people just call it a bark. Its hard to say but it doesent do it often, it did do it lots when i was at a higher elevation though way more then ever before. Whent in town it only doese it on this one hill, at 60 km speed when it changes gears..

Barking occurs when boost is high and the fuel is suddenly cut back. When you're into the throttle heavy with high boost and then suddenly let off the throttle quickly, that is barking. It can also happen when the tranny upshifts, but that usually only happens with built trannys where the TC is tighter than stock.
Surge is something that occurs when your foot is steady on the pedal (usually at lower boost pressures). It normally only happens with larger than stock turbos.
Stocker
Bark is different from surge.

My stocker would surge going into final gear. I pull a boat sometimes and seems to do it more than just going down the road. But it would do it when going into overdrive without a load as well. I had stock turbo and converter. I cant get this aurora to bark or surge. Probally due to the fact it has no wastegate.
