iPod?

Has anyone wired an iPod directly in the stock head unit on a 2004? ...or can you tell me; does every stock head unit in the 04's have the CD Changer output on the back, which would allow that plug to be used with an iPod?

thanks,
daniel

www.Pie.net should answer some of your questions.

Your radio must have CD changer controls (remote CD changer) for this to work. You will need a PIE aux converter (CHRY02-AUX). Logjam electronics has them for around $70.

Crap, thats what I thought. I screwed up. I'm almost positive that my stock unit does not have the CD-Changer output and of course I've already ordered one of the logjam iPod units. ....anyone have a stock unit with CD changer outs that they want to sell cheap?

mine sounds better than the radio, espescially sirius. I have the roadtrip, it mounts my ipod perfectly between the steering wheel and the radio

My impression from the ones I've heard is that a good portion of the signal is lost through FM transmission. The direct wire to the head unit is the way to go.

It is my understanding that sometime this spring DC is coming out with a kit that will integrate your i pod with your factory stereo. It will allow you to utilize your steering wheel controls with your i pod and you will see your i pod display on your deck. Cost from dealer is supposed to be around $175.00 plus install. The kit will only be available on DC 05 and newer models.

And I agree the Fm modulators suck. I get better sound quality out of a cassette

With my 03, there is one screw under the garbage bag holder hook and the rest are clips that pop loose when you give a pull to the dash piece. I have taken mine off a number of times with no problem. Go slow and it should come right off. I believe the stereo itself is 4 screws.

Awesome... I suppose I could have gone out and looked, but I'm feeling pretty lazy today.

Speaking of iPod and Dodge, I drove the new Dodge Caliber while waiting for my oil change and tire rotate this morning. My dealer said, "here check out this little car." It has an iPod holder that flips out of the center console and man, the factory audio in that little car was probably the best I've heard. It was impressive. I almost told him to go ahead throw one in the back of my truck
