intake

i see in diesel magazines a truck will be running a stock intake elbow and others dont. theone i seen was a cummings pushing 600 hp how important is it to replace if your running high performace stuff.

if you have a new elbow what do you got. i have a chance to pick up a banks elbow for hardly nothing. to me it would just look cool under the hood

it depends what elbow you are talking about the whole intake or just the top one? either way it will be an upgrade i made my own intake. you can cut a hole in your airbox for more air i think it is called the psm mod look it up. also it looks like you tow so that edge box is going to create a lot of heat the smarty actually runs lower than the stock settings id look into something like that if i were you.

Buy it if its a good deal. all it does is help the flow into the intake vs. stock which they say is restrictive.. plus like you said, it would look cool under the hood

Better flow can't hurt performance regardless of stock or modified. I've thought about adding the better elbow to my otherwise almost stock truck.

I got a better elbow, from a 2nd gen truck. If you can get the Banks unit cheap then jump on it.

I would like to see some independant testing on the banks 3.5 horn, you read the add`s in the magazines and they talk it up pretty good.

Banks doesn't have the best intake horn design as far as I'm concerned and their prices are outlandish, but for $100 I'd say go for it.

If you decide you don't want it, let me know, I'd be interested in it.

Buy it if it's cheap cuz the bigger airhorn isn't very cost effective. I got turned off on Banks junk really bad when I had my 97 but the twin ram helped the response time. I built my own 3.5" long radius airhorn on my 03 (it's in my avatar) and it also helped response time but neither one of them did anything for getting me over a mtn. pass any faster. Craig

I'M looking to buy the intake horn, wondering which brand to buy? Afe, cfm, banks, s&b ... Looking for thr beet bang for your buck type deal. I've heard thr cfm flows better than the afe, because afe has some sort of fins inside of it to direct air that are more restrictive than anything? And I've heard banks is not worth the pricethry ask for it. Does anyone have any info or personal expierience on any of these?
