I bought a kit off of e-bay from Seige Engineering (called hammer4) and it came with a 5 liter compressor/tank unit. I got lucky and was able to make a couple small brackets and fit the compressor up inside the drivers side fender and mounted the horns under the passenger fender just behind the bumper and facing downwards... Since the compressor was so close to the battery the power wiring was only about 2 foot long. For a quick / easy switch I just spliced the factory horn wire and attached it to the air horn. Later I will place a button inside the cab up by the grab handle for the air horns and reconnect the factory set up for "city horns"...
The best thing about this set up is that I was able to install it in dead spaces, it was tight, but it did fit and the compressor is up high out of the way and protected from the elements and also engine heat... Also I didn't have to drill any holes in the truck, I used bolts that where already there holding up the battery mount...
Some pictures here to get an idea...

i installed an actual train horn on my truck. the NATHAN K5LA. they are air horns so i had to install a compressor and air tank also. i used a ford starter solenoid so the compressor wouldnt come on when the truck was off, so the batteries wouldnt run dead. i also wired it into the trucks horn button on the steering wheel.....IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! you can find the horns on ebay for about a grand, and the compressor is a vaair 550C(about 300.00). starter solenoid 25.00 air tank 80.00 and an electrically actuated switch for the air line 35.00.
