Has anyone mounted a set of Hummer 2 rims with 315/70s on the SRW 2500/3500. I bought a set of 4 rims on ebay for $150.00, a lot of rich folks trading them in for 20 inchers and the market is flooded with them. The bolt pattern is the same, but I had to machine the center bore to fit my truck and I also opened the center cap bore to use my stock Ram caps. The problem is the offset is out a 1/2" greater, it helps clear the inside, but I don't know if I will clear the outer body. I will add a 2" level kit if I have to but would prefer not to. By the way I mounted 1 of them without a tire and it looked great with the ram center cap. Spent to much on my beast and have to save up for the tires.

How much did you have to machine the centers? Can yo use the stock lug nuts that came on the truck or do you need other ones? The tires should fit without a problem.

what size are the H2 wheels. Backspace and diameter?

I believe they are 17" 8-lug 6.5” bolt pattern and 5.5” backspacing.

The look like they would be an excellent fit for us. I just found a set going for $180 on Ebay:

The hummer wheels are 17", but they are 8.50" rims verses our 8.0" which is what the tire manufacturer recomends for the 315/70's. They have the same bolt pattern and stud diameter as our trucks. They also can use our stock lug nuts and our center caps secure to the lug nuts so you just have to machine clearance in the wheel for our center caps. I opened the center bore about .050" to 4.774 and the clearance opening to 8.50 inches for the center cap. The removal notch in the side of the center caps must be cut deeper or you will not get them off. A tire dealer freind says he just takes a hand grinder to do this to other wheels but I would machine them.

Thanks for the info, I might try to find a set local, the shipping on a set of those with tires would be very high.

dra7,

I love the idea of the Hummer wheels! I called a local wheel dealer and he said they do get Hummer takeoffs sometimes and they sell them for $400. a set with tires. What a deal. The machining is the only glitch.
I think the stock Hummer tire is a 285 70 but I don't know the load range. Let us know what tire you decide on and how they fit, can't wait to hear.
Whatever I get, I want five, so I can run them on any position on the truck and rotate them all (can't run an odd size on one side of the rear with locking diff).
Thanks, Wetspirit

I looked at the rims to fit my truck but was to chicken to try them. [eyecrazy]. Now that you have ventured to the head of the pack I am sure alot will follow, myself included. Will be interested in your progress...

Stock tires on the H2 are BFG All Terrain 315/70/17s (Load Range D) just like everyone is putting on their rigs already! It should be easy to pick up a set of 5. I see them all over ebay.

I just ordered 5 BFG 315s from tire rack for $117.00 each plus $65.00 shipping!! :o I was planning on 285s but they cost $182.00 each!!! I'm using my stock rims as they have a little more backspacing then the Hummer wheels. There are lots of them on e-bay but most are too much $$$...

Are these different than the H1 rims? There is a new one parked outside and it has factory 37" goodyear Mud Terrains..... :o

Yeah, the H2 rims are a little different. The H1 sports 37x12.5x17" rubber.

For those that are interested I went the local Sams Club and bought a set of 315's for $542......$115.60 per tire........that included mounting balanced and lifetime rotation.
They had to order and will take 7 to 10 days

Any pics of the h2 rims on a dodge ram?

Deuce,

Be careful. Some of those tires are "standard load" which, I think, means "B" load range. B is the lightest duty passenger car tire rating.
They will ride like a cloud but will puncture very easily. If you got D or E for that price you got a great deal.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I was under the assumption that the only 315/70/17 tire produced is the BFG All Terrain. This tire has a D load range. It was specifically developed for the Hummer H2. This is why there are so many companies selling them at an inexpensive price....lots of people with H2s ditched the factory wheels for 20 inchers with rubber band tires and no offroad capabilities.

You definitely don't want to run a Load Range B tire on our rigs, but I honestly doubt you will find any that are 315s.

I will check or call and ask but I thought is was the same tire as the one I brought up from tirerack.com.......315/70/17 AT/KO................just a cheaper price.
I will find out today
Thanks

You should be fine....like I said...I'm almost positive the BFG All Terrain is the only 315/70/17 tire manufactured.
