Grits R Great!

Man, Southerners have it all figured out! I grew up in PA and never had grits. I've always associated them w/ any other hot cereal. I've never been into hot cereal until I had me some grits! MMMMMMMMMMM...YUM! Kinda tastes like rice if you put butter on them.

Yep, good stuff.

Butter, salt, pepper. Country ham with red eye gravy, cat head biscuits, 3 fresh yard eggs, toast and a quart of coffee

New England yankees eat it with sugar and butter and call it parina. That's not half bad either.

The REASON you put butter, sugar, salt, or pepper on them, is because that's the only way they have any taste! Otherwise, (from my experience), grits are just warmed up wallpaper paste!

As far as 'parina' goes, I think that's what we fed our dog when I was a kid. Came in a 50lb sack, added warm water for 'gravy', dog loved it. Never tried it myself tho. I s'pose compared to grits, it may actually TASTE like something!

I guess someone needs to make me grits "the right way". I've tried to be a trooper with them, (cheesy, salt and butter, sugar) and I haven't liked them. There are very few foods I don't like and I'd be willing to give them one more try, but that's it!

Not this Yankee! Butter, salt, and a dash of Tobasco. S'like eating "khan on the khab"! Oh....and a side of scrapple too please!

BTW, pogo, the best grits I've ever tasted come from a place in Belvidere, TN called Falls Mills. I buy sacks online and have it shipped to me.

I told a lady in a restaurant once to NEVER EVER put grits on my plate again. Tasted like salty beach sand. She said you're not from the south are you. I said what was your first clue.
I can't think of a good use for them except for the compost pile. Hominy is about the same thing.

Man...fatback...holy cow...I can't eat that stuff! I might be able to suck down a spoonful of salt easier than eating fatback!

"i think he ment "FARINA""

Or Purina.
