GDP MK-2 Filter kits
I'm strongly considering buying and installing myself a GDP MK-2 kit and would like to know from those that have installed one themselves:
1. Any installation issues you had during the install?
2. Any operating issues since you have installed the kit?
3. How often are you changing the 2 micron filter?
4. The installation instructions say to verify fuel pressure after the install. Since I don't have gauges, how would I do this?
4. Any other comments you think might be helpful.

I would just call and talk to Richard at Glacier. He is very helpful and willing.
I made my own 2 mic filter setup, did not use Richards. I have not changed my 2 mic yet, about 8k on it.

I bought Richards 2 micron filter and big line kit. Installation was easy and directions were straight forward. Ive had it on the truck for about 1.5 months with no problems. Iam actually running the stock filter and GDP 2 micron in tandem.

Same here. I have had his kit on my 2007 for over a year now, Instillation was about an hour beginning to end. I change mine when my Fuel pressure drops 1-2 PSI which is about every 8-10,000 miles. I use the 7 micron in the stock housing. The only issue I ran into was I had some seepage around the fitting going from the back of the filter to the CP3. Just enough to get a little wet. I called Richard and he told me to use Yellow thread tape and to go around it 4-5X. Not one problem since!

On another note, both of the dealers I use for service saw my set up when I was having warranty work performed and thought it was a great idea. Cummins says 3 micron and Dodge uses 7 microns. Go figure...

F5320 IS a 5 Micron Absolute
Just to let everyone know that the Fleetguard FF520 IS is a 5 micron absolute and NOT a 2 micron absolute per SAE J1985. I know it says 2 micron on the filter itself so mostpeople think it is a 2 micron but that is not an absolute rating. If you want a true 2 micron filter look at a the CAT 1R-0750 or 1R-0749. Attached is the spec sheet for the Fleetguard FF5320 and my dual CAT 1R-0750 or 1R-0749 setup.

I think this is one of the best mods you can do for your truck. Even a stock truck.
Clean, filtered fuel is the key to long injector life on these common rail trucks, imo.
I have had my GDP 2 micron filter head on my truck for about 2 to 2.5 years now and it works great. I change my filter every 20K miles or so. My fuel goes through a fuel strainer, then through the walbro inline pump, then to the stock filter housing (7 micron filter) and then thru the 2 micron GDP kit and on to the CP3.
I was running the Fleetguard 2 micron filter, but switched last time to the CAT 1R-0750 filter, based on info I read here on DTR. Both seem to work fine though.

I've got the GDP 2-micron filter as well. I change both of my fuel filters at the same time I change my oil. I've had the GDP system on my truck for 2-1/2 years. I've only used the fleetguard filter, but may try the CAT filter. No problems whatsoever. Richard is a great guy to deal with, he put together a real nice kit, easy to install, took about an hour to install.

Correct on the 5 micron absolute rating. However the sae J1985 standard is only certified to 4 microns. There is NO SAE certified testing standard below 4 microns. Any filter manufacturer that states it has a 2 micron absolute filter is doing so on in house testing, thus the filter does not meet the SAE standard and is not certified.
Now with this being said, it is not an attack on Cat filters or any filter brand for that manner, just information. Personally I think Cat makes an excellent filter and would not hesitate to use them on my truck.
I have had the GDP 2 micron/big line kit on my truck since 06. It would draw my fuel pressure at WOT down to 4-6 psi on a stock truck. I added a Quad XZT and with that on the truck with the 2 micron I could draw the fuel pressure down to 0 and below at WOT. So if your truck is stock then I would not worry about it. If you have mods then an upgraded fuel system is in order. I wound up putting a Airdog 100 on my truck to correct my low fuel pressure issues.

Thanks for all the replys. One more question though and it has to do with the tape used on the fittings that screw into the filter mounting head. Can I use standard white teflon tape that's normally used in plumbing applications or is something else required?

Yellow teflon is used when solvents come into play. I believe the tracer used in LP is considered a solvent?? The additives found in diesel fuel are also considered solvents.
Technically a solvent is a material, usually a liquid, that has the power to dissolve another material, and form a homogenous mixture known as a solution. The solvents/additives found in ULSD can dissolve the white teflon but do not dissolve the yellow teflon. There are something like 25 different formulas to the composition of teflon tapes.
I have always used the yellow tape on all fuel applications. I believe it is a tad bit thicker as well because of it's composition. You can get the yellow tape at all the same places you get the white, everyone hardware wise offers them both.

We use Loctite H.V.A.C blue pipe joint compound. It is impervious to most chemicals. There is a picture of it on the link in my sig.
