Fuel Rail Volume

Would having a fuel rail with large volume benefit the dual CP3 users with larger injectors? I was looking at one earlier and they would be easy to machine, I just need to figure out what material to use.

then you are limited to injector line size. it would be cool to have a larger rail and oversized lines similar to the 12 valve guys with bigger lines

And then the feed tube and the injector inlet becomes the next restriction.Modded factory rails are an option but I haven't seen any dyno testing to prove if they work or not.As far as I know all the big hp guys(Tim Barber,Lloyd Mills etc....) are using a stock rail.

There was a big debate also about whether or not the inside of the rail had some sort of coating to minimize erosion(etching) from the high fuel pressure CR 's see.Don't know if that debate was ever settled.

Well, the coating is invisible, and wasn't adversely affected by the powder coater's oven.

I saw the pic of your rail, yellow right? Is yours modded? I ran one for a few months and didn't notice much, maybe a little on the bottom but that was along time ago, long before I got half whats done to the truck now.I just don't see them doing much good.If you are maintaining RP,especially with dual or modded pumps, I can't see where they would help.

Yep - it's yellow so I can see where to connect the propylene oxide line at night.

Modded rails can't hurt anything except your wallet, and are a step in the right direction - but I think they only make sense for max-effort mills.

Loss of pressure is what kills hp...a bigger rail won't do squat...unless everything is bigger.

Pretty much. About the only effect, and for the most part a good one, is they tend to lessen the hammering the injectors take from the pressure spikes.
