front door speakers
Anyone have to remove ( cut) any metal around the factory speaker hole to get replacment 6x9 's to fit ?? Just bought a set of 6x9 pioneer's & the factory cut out is too small for the replacement to fit flush against the door like the factory 6x9's.. Any ideas other than cutting the factory hole larger ??

you want to measure the mounting depth on those new speakers with the windows rolled down. that way you don't cut any material, get them installed and go to roll the windows down only for the window to hit the magnet. You may have to use a mounting adapter or spacer.
there is a plastic spacer on the factory speaker held on by four tabs around the top of the speaker, when i did mine i used this on my aftermarket speaker that brought it out enough to use the mounting tabs
I had the window down.. It's like the outer frame on the new speakers are hitting the sides of the 6x9 factory opening in the door keeping the speaker mounting holes from mounting flush with the factory mounting holes..I guess I could just mount them.. I was just thinking that with the speakers not fitting the factory holes & sticking out a bit .that, the door panel wouldn't go back on
