Fleetguard oil filter p/n for first gens?
What is it? I searched and came up with nothing for this forum. Lots of hits for gens 2 and 3 though.
and... are the Napa (wix) oil filters bad for Cummins engines? I heard a rumor on another forum. I've been running them for 2 years and never had trouble.
whoa the color of the forum just changed.

lf3894 is built for 24v's but can be ran on 12v's... there isnt a difference besides its built to widthstand more oil pressure. its the stratapore style. Its supposed to be the best flowing and filtering combo in fleetguard. mine held over 1 quart of oil.
i dont think id run any other filter.

I run the strata pore fleet guard. It what my father-in-law who worked at cummins told me to use. He is a gen tech/sales and says the fleet guards are where its at. i pick them up at our local truck supply shop, now that he doesn't work for cummins anymore.

LF3894 is the part number on the filter. I remember in about 2003 or 04 when the stratapore came out and we made the switch. That was about 60,000 miles, and probably too few of oil changes, ago.

"The synthetic media filter traps the smallest dirt particles, including the 5-15 micron size that causes the most damage."
That is for the StrataPore™ filters. (3894 for example)

Yeah the paper ones have worked fine for ever... the new filters are just supposed to be better.. they are what is recommended on the new commonrail trucks. Also the 3349 isnt rated for the high oil pressure spikes that the other filter is. you can be assured the filters made for the 24v and common rail trucks are built with a more rigid structure.
