finally turned the fuel screw in some.

I think I ended up going 4 turns in... or something. I wasn't really counting at first. No throttle hanging yet, which is cool I guess.
I didn't notice a lot more power though. Infact I would say it feels like I only gained some small indescriminate amount of power. Maybe 20 hp or something, quite disappointing. The transmission is simply not putting the power to the ground as it would turn out. I wonder how much it is really holding me back at this point. Seems like a lot.

I also adjusted my idle down because I had to. It was pulling WAY too hard off idle and my idle was pretty darn high.

I absolutely hate that low idle screw...

Overall verdict, disappointed

/the end.

4 turns should have given you something to smile about, Check and make sure your fuel pin is infact moving, check for a tear in the diaphragm.

Are you seeing any black smoke?

yeah the pin is traveling just fine, I know that much. The smoke output has doubled or tripled too. The fuel is there, the power just isn't in a way I thought it would, even with my stock auto.

You guys are going to crucify me here. I have no idea. The reason I never turned the pump up is because I don't have any. I just was curious to see what it would do. I'll probably turn it back down or go buy some gauges next pay check.

I can tell the turbo is putting more boost out, I can hear it. It's also a lot hotter, I can tell that too by the way things were cooling off after I shut it down. I'm not worried about EGTs to be honest, I don't do anything with it except DD. No towing or anything. I'm much more worried about the head gasket. I need a boost gauge so I know what my pressure is at so I can set the wastegate. It's closed right now.

The gauges are not only to make sure you dont burn it up. They are also a diagnostic tool for problems like this.

this is true. You're right, I really really need to get a boost and pyro. I think I do know my truck well enough to safely say my boost is way up, and things are hotter. By how much, I have no idea. Off idle I have a ton more smoke but once my boost hits it's nothing more than a haze. Not too much more than it was before, but it is noticeably more of a haze but nothing that I would think to be out of the ordinary. Infact, less of a haze than I was expecting.

One of my other problems I'm sure too is that I don't have enough timing at all. My timing is just about in the stock position right now. Considering what I've done for mods I suspect it's holding me back. I Can't remember who it was but the dyno sheets for one guy showed a big difference. I wish I could remember exactly but the hp was in the low-mid 300s and he bumped his timing on the dyno and it shot up like 60hp and even gained a bunch of tq too. It was a member/thread on this forum I think... I wish I could remember better.

I'm just waiting to take the truck off the road so I can do a whole bunch of work on it and one of the things I'm going to do is jump a tooth when I do the kdp and case bolts.

I truly do think it is the trans though. The stock converter is truly a POS. I'll drive it more tomorrow and get a better read on how it feels. The test drive tonight after I did it was brief, to say the least... it's been a long day.

What kinda supply pump do you have? I see in your sig lp plp, but I don't know what you mean my that? I've got close to the same set up as you besides the trans and I had to back the fuel screw out to close to stock after the injectors to keep the clutch and rear tires happy. I've got 3ish truns left to go in and that is where I dyno'd at.
I understand that you loose alot through the converter but I would suspect there is something else to cause your seat of the pants to feel low. Cause after I put my sticks in I was honestly scard!
How did you do your wastgate on the 351?

lp plp is just the low pressure piston lift pump.
I've seen dyno sheets where one guy dynoed at just over 300hp. Maybe 307hp with his 47rh unlocked. He locked the trans and dynoed again and his hp shot up to just short of 400hp so a LOT of power can be lost in a non lockup auto.
Don't get me wrong, I have a definite seat of the pants feel overall. The truck is fast. It's just not all that much faster than it was before I turned the screw in.

I drilled and tapped an adjustible boost elbow in the housing and it's clocked such that I needed to make a new hotside cooler pipe. The hotside pipe connects to the turbo above the intake pipe, instead of below it.

I did one WOT run up to 60mph. It went good. Still not as good as I was expecting but it went good. The throttle is much more touchy too. I just think the converter isn't transfering all the power, that's all. Shouldn't really come as any purprise really. The converter is stock afaik

The stock cooled sticks kinda take the fun out of turning the fuel screw. Put some bigger boys in there and the fuel settings make a huge difference.

I have the old DDP4 sticks in there. Check my sig. On #1 diesel last year I dynoed at 248hp uncorrected. I've since added the ASA intake, low pressure piston pump, reduced my timing (for better access to the pump) and have now turned the pump up some. I figures I could get pretty close to 300hp if I hotwired my ksb and bumped my timing back up.

Next on the list is a boost/pyro, then some 3" cooler tubes and maybe just maybe I can find a powerstroke intercooler at the same time as the cooler tubes. Then transmission work
