EGT's seem high

I pulled my 12,000lb. 5th wheel today and egt's were from 1380 to 1425 on mild hills. Seems a little high, is that normal?

Hmmm, well it could be too high... or not... depends on the other conditions.... you need to fill in a few details.

1 mild uphill huh? les than 3-4%?
2 downshifted to 2nd or 3rd? or luggin in OD?
3 New tires? Are they oversized?
4 4 x 4, maybe because of the flares?

It don't seem to bad to me under the right conditions. Maybe a touch high if done at higher elevations.

Too many variables to answer honestly. Did your water temp get over 210-220?
I wouldn't worry if it's occassional and not constant.
Also, a lot depends on where the probe is placed. Closer to the exhaust port, higher temps... further away (read that closer to the turbo) reads a little cooler.

Sounds pretty normal for a stock engine, they run like that by design.

Probly around a 3% but not very long, yes in 3rd gear, stock tires. Engine pretty much stock. No HP tuner yet. Coolant stayed around 210. Probe is above turbo under number 5.

well, that's good... sounds about right, especially having the probe under #5 cylinder above the turbo.
Mines' located just about an inch above the turbo flange so it sees as much of all the exhaust as it can and I run about 1300 when pulling our 40' 3-axle enclosed trailer.
Your coolant temp is right where it should be so I wouldn't worry.

Next time your on that hill with the same load, try and keep the rpm's up around 2000 and see if it gets up there like before. Towing my trailer in the hills with the juice turned up to tow, I don't see anything above
1150 at 65 mph. Thats with the cruise on. If I pedal it, its less.
