I am looking at the Edge w/ Attitude mostly because of the gauges with the monitor... or would you think the smarty is the only way to go?

 

For what the opinion of a 12v guy is worth, I wouldn't base my decision on the included gauges with the monitor, yeah it is cool, and works well, but how does it compare as far as preformance? Does it fit with our power goals, and use of the truck? Many guys love the Edge Juice, especially with the hot upgrade, but for power mods make sure you are getting what you want in that department as well.

 

Stock truck.....Juice/Attitude is hard to beat. It has gauges and lots of safety features. If its not enough, upgrade it to HOT later.

I don't believe in the Smarty. Everyone has their own opinions...but look at $ for $.....$685 for the Smarty or pick up a good used Juice/Attitude for around $500? then gauges/safety features/etc.....its clear which is more cost effective for an owner of a stock truck.

 

I was going to get a j/a for my 06, but got the smarty and manual guages instead. With either box you cant use the upper levels with a stock tranny, and although I've never tried a j/a.....from the impressions I get on this board and TDR, the smarty has a lot more lower end (reduced tq mgmt). I do like the safety features of the j/a.....but I dont find them necessary (i have some self control). I like the smarty on level 1 (30hp) or level 3 (60hp) with my stock tranny....shifts like stock, exponentially more bottom / mid range tq, great drivability, good egt's, moderately better mileage, idle is smoother, sounds better thru exhaust, hugely improved overall perf as well as 60-80+mph performance over stock....and when I get my tranny built the smarty still has plenty of levels to go (so does the juice / hot juice).....however i think the smarty signs off a little on top (but it could be because the bottom / mid are off the hook), and I dont like the fact that the dodge auto sucks and will grenage on anything above level 3 (not smarty or j/a's fault)....

Everyone has their opinion / experience....I personally chose overall drivability (reduced tq mgmt and aswome low to mid power), old school guages, future upgrades (I believe in Marco from what i've seen on the boards) and not having to remove stuff to go to the dealer over cool electronic guages (i'm a Director of IT so that was hard), safety features, on the fly adjustibility and coperate customer service....

and from a $'s perspective, if you can't afford a good box/programmer....dont bomb your truck as that's just the begining...I personally dont like used stuff, no matter the savings....

If it's your first power adder, I doubt you can go wrong either way, they'll both put a smile on your face and a hurt in your wallet!
