Dumb question...
Ok, I searched and can't find an explanation I can understand. What exactly is this "killer dowel pin" everybody keeps talking about fixing? What does it do and what has to be done to fix it? Considering that I haven't had the truck all that long what other preventative maintinence should I do?

It is an alignment pin on the timing cover that works out in to the pump, cam and vacuum gears and can cause a crack in the cover. Or it can fall in the oil pan and couse no prob, or it can stay in and never cause a prob. Best bet to fix it!

Here is a link to the TST kit to fix it. http://www.tstproducts.com/index.asp...PROD&ProdID=64 It is not a tough fix, just 3-4 hours of basic wrenching...
And the seal included is like $35 at cummins, many wonder why a bolt, washer and seal is so expensive. Plus it includes great instructions.
