Dodge Beats Z06 in Texas 1/8 mile: The Vette Drivers Side of the Story
All,
As a diesel guy first and a Vette owner second I thought this was one of the funniest posts to date on the Vette forum. I assume the owner of the Dodge in question is on this forum and would get a kick out of how bad he is making the Z06 boys cry. I am not trying to start a fight here so please forgive their diesel ignorance.

To the owner of the truck in question: That is one sick truck to take a Z06 in a drag race!
Thanks,
John

I don't believe I would have posted this.

Great post John.. I read all 3 pages laughing all the way through.. Whats sad is that the diesel trucks are no longer "sleepers". I have people all the time pulling next to me seeing if I want to play. I had a Mustang pull next to me while pulling my GN trying to race me.

It is those posts that remind me why I am not a "Vette Guy". Vettes are fast as hell but can be beat. I have a feeling if it was a 1/4 mile race it would have ended differently. If/When I get beat in the truck or the Vette I would be asking to see what is under the hood and want to talk to the guy to see what I lost to not crying about it.

We just had a big vette rally in Spearfish, and the fastest trip down the 1/8 that anyone posted was 8.1X. Most were 8.5-8.8. Ive run 8.58 with my slow shifter. I wish they would have let some trucks run at the drags with the vettes.

Don't get me wrong vette's are nice and already said i plan on buying a c6 z06 here in another year or 2. But most of the drivers can't really drive either. Here is a video of me racing one in my mustang. They sure do pick up speed after the 1/8 bad driver or not. I only have 275rwhp and the vette dynoed the day before at 595rwhp. At least i had him at the 1/8 lol

While it is still impressive for a diesel to beat the vette, it is still not that uncommon. I have a video where I spanked a C3 convertible at the track in the 1/4. Ok so it was an older vette and they are not all that to today's standards and I have no idea what mods he had if any at all.
Later that night though (this was one year ago) I beat a brand new (still had the dealer's paper plates on) ZO6. The 505hp version. It was very close, I don't think he knew how to hook up at the start and he was gaining fast at the end but I nipped him by a couple tenths of a second at the end of the 1/4. He was so PO'd! He had blood shooting out his eyes.

I don't have $10,000 in mods but it runs good.
My ex has a 86 vette and it is quick to 50mph, I would be surprised if mine could beat it, but it might.
I'll drive my truck over that squeeky thing. Tears up my back to get into and out of it too.
Long story about that car. She wouldn't let me drive it without her but was alway letting another guy have it for the wekend!!!!!!!!!!!
I just refused to work on it. Made her change the plugs, oil wires etc.
Yes, you know what I called her----'b' word.
Oh, yes I drove it anyway!!!!

The truck was probably four wheel drive as well, which is a big advantage launching in an 1/8 mile run.
I love that comment. Ya'll hear that boys, the Dodge had the advantage!!!!
And I love how they are so clueless about what a diesel can do.
