Do you drive around pulling people out?

Hi guys n' gals,
This is the season for blizzards here in Colorado, and not only here. So let me ask you: do you sometimes go driving on a weekend, or after work, or just any time on a snowy day, on some back roads, town streets or neighborhoods, for the simple pleasure of pulling out those poor souls that drive cars (and Chevys)?
I have included a small poll as to how many miles you would still have fun going if you knew there was someone stuck there in a snow bank.
Cheers,
-P

yeah! I'll drive 20 miles to pull out the right truck! Cars, ehh...anyone can do that. I actually have a running total on my AIM profile. Toyota owners are the best, I had one guy tell me he wasn't really stuck...So I said I'd just wait for him to pull out. He told me to leave...Went back about an hour later and he had a bag of kitty litter and a shovel trying to get out of the snowmobile trail he was stuck in (not an actual trail, just a local runnin spot), I told him I wouldn't take any pictures of me pulling him out and he said to hook up to him. Pulled him out no problem, after I unhooked the strap he just took off, never said thanks or nothing...what an .

Looks like my poll is a bit off mark on distances! Everyone says 5+. And we are talking about a stranger out there, right? Not a mother-in-law or a girlfriend ? For these I should have included "Not even a foot for a million bucks" and "To the Moon and back"...
Yeah, I hear you about the Toyota jerk. There are all kinds of people out there. I think I would not be as nice as you and let him dig if his brand pride is greater than camaraderie that shows in many people is distress.

I put 5 miles or more, but that heavily depends on who it is. Any of my friends or family know I'll go anywhere I'm needed in a desperate situation. A friend of a friend is lucky if I go a couple miles, though. Otherwise, I'll help anyone on the side of the road if they ask for it.

Lets say someone comes into a place where I am and politely asks if anyone could help them. In a situation like that, I'd do whatever I reasonably could to help them.

I once pulled out a Brand New 4 door tundra "Possi trac" from the sand on the beach burried past the hitch. Couldnt even see it. Guy was very kind and generous . Also I pulled out my dumb friend in his 98 1500 ram w/33" muds. Front tire burried. I could go to the back left corner of the bed and move the whole truck up and down with one finger it was so bottomed out! . He had it in 2wd...got stuck.....put it in 4wd..and floored it . U can go to the beach and just wait for the tourons to get burried and pull them out. Sometimes get a tip

It's not even legal here in NY unless you're on the State Police call list. I don't go out of my way to get a ticket, but if I see someone in need, I pull over and offer a hand.

Not sure if its illegal up here in MN but i know the cops dont like it very much. I will drive around every time we get a blizzard just to pull people out. i kinda get a kick out of the stories and scenes you come across out in the snow. My favorites are the teenagers (girls especially) and folks just leavin the bars. Although i usually dont pull them out because if they kill someone after i pull them out i can be held liable for knowingly letting them drive drunk. I just nicely offer them a ride and say that i will be more than happy to help in the AM. Sometimes the tips are good too

I'll go anywhere to pull out someone I know if they call and ask for help.

But, no way do I go looking to do this for strangers. In this strange world that we live today stopping to help someone out can end up costing you. If you hurt their vehicle trying to help some people could get you into court to pay for the damage that you did to their car.

That happened to a guy that I know two winters ago. Cost him a total of $3000.00 for Attorney and repairs to the car that he pulled from a snow bank. Yes, the guy flagged down the guy I know (Howie) and ask him for help. Howie pulled him out and almost pulled the bumper from his car doing so. The guy said no problem about the bumper and thanked and offered to pay him. Three months later the guy sends Howie a bill for the repairs, which ended up in court.

If someone flagged me down and ask for help I would more than likely help them out, but No way would I go looking for possible trouble.

I don't think I'd pull out anyone who I didn't know these days. I've heard too many horror stories about a good guy pulling the front of someones rig off then getting sued. Don't know if it's true but have heard if you make the owner of the stuck rig hook up the tow chain you're off the hook for damages.

In both Montana and Washington it's illegal to pull someone out unless you have a towing licence. They are also required to call the cops before pulling you out so they give you a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.

I've been pulled out of the snow countless times. So now I do what I can to pull people out.

New a guy who ran a snow plow business who had a sign for snow storms.

Side one read "50 bucks to pull you out"

Side two read "Tow truck costs 100 and the price is now 75 bucks"
