Ok folks,

School is in session and I need learning.

What is the difference between replacing nozzles and replacing injector? What are the pros and cons of each? And so on and so on?

A nozzle is just what it states. It's the nozzle end that has the holes in it. Personally, I don't care much for the nozzles because there are just to many things to go wrong. You can get dirt in them, assemble them wrong, all sorts of little things. No thanks. I'll spend the extra money and buy the whole injector that I know is gonna work the first time I put it in.

If you go with the nozzles.. I would just have them check before you installed them..

Thanks guys, just trying to figure out what does what.

So basically if I was to put 275 nozzles on my stock injectors I would have 275 injectors. Or would they be somewhere in between?

If you get 275 nozzles, and then set the pop pressure right you'll have 275 injectors.

The guys are right get new 275's complete. We sell the BRAND NEW Bosch ones at a pretty darn good price, mostly because we can't afford for customers to have problems and secondly they are BOSCH, the OEM supplier for the stock injector etc. Call us if you have any questions etc.

I agreee 100% with Mark. Buy a brand new set of ready to go BOSCH RV275's. Swapping nozzles to your old injector bodies is more work, less cost effective, and will still need to be pop tested.

Thats what I had planned on doing but was just trying to understand what really makes an injector. The body or the nozzle.

Like I said I was just after schooling.

Well what we are doing is taking the stock nozzles, having them honed and increasing the pop off pressure. I'm waiting on a set of nozzles for the stock tube now. What we're looking for is a towing set at it's best. When I find it I will let you know. We already have a large set of honed in the race truck . Lots of fuel, very smooth.

I'm not sure your question has been answered yet, so just to be clear:

Replacing injectors is a simple take-out-the-old-put-in-the-new affair.

Replacing nozzle involves reusing your old injectors. The nozzle is the metal end part of the injector assembly. When you replace the nozzles only, you disassemble your old injectors partially to replace just this part of them. Then you reinstall them.

What the pros say to do is start with cheaper new Bosch injectors (the 275s) as your "old" injectors if you decide to go with a nozzle replacement, as this will ensure that the completed injector assembly with its new nozzle is performing the best it can.

I prefer to just buy injectors, as all the testing, assembly, and calibration has been done, and the install is pretty hassle free. I'm pretty much a DIY kinda guy, but this one I leave to the "pros".

Replacing stock inj with bosch 275's was the singlemost best upgrade i have done to my truck. Just be sure and start watching your egts.

pardon the ingorance from the newby, but with the 275's do you get a lot more smoke? what kind of egt's are you looking at even with 4" all the way and an hx35 with boost elbow. looking to add a cathcher, comp, and 1.5's. (and of course guages) i was looking at don's 1.5 (mach 1.5) but aren't quite sure if that's a complete injector or just a nozzle? i've heard good things about both but i think i'm gonna go with the 1.5's. (don't like a lot of smoke, but crave more power)

The Mach 1.5 (think it's actually 1.6 now) is a complete injector and twice the power of an RV275... you'll be able to manage EGTs with your right foot but with your planned mods I would be looking into a turbo upgrade as well... it will be cheaper than replacing a melted piston... trust me.

i went with the 275/300 rv injectors...they are on the way. I just didnt want to have to worry about egt's and other upgrades to make them work. I will post up once they are in.

will a bigger cfm housing accomodate the mods or will i have to go full out new turbo, if so what is recommended and more cost efficient? i need to figure now so i have the pennies saved.
