D D Mag-Hytec Transmission Pan Effectiveness?
What's anyone's experience with the D D Mag-Hytec Transmission Pan on a 2004 48RE transmission. I am thinking of getting one. Thanks

That can vary some from truck to truck, but IIRC most guys think they see about a 30 degree drop in temps during the hot summer months, particularly when towing. It provides 4 extra quarts as a little extra cushion and it's easier to drain it since it already has a drain. I've had it since 15K miles, and im at 129K now. I like it.

I like mine. Mostly for the drain plug.
The extra 4qts help in cooling when sitting at a stop light. When you start moving again, the air-oil cooler lowers the temp back to pan temps. Overall, I would say about 15-20F drop in trans temp, city driving. Not much help on the freeway.
But, I'm looking for every little bit of cooling I can get: AZ summer days can get up to 115F or more! At those temps, my trans will run at 190F on the freeway and 190-210F in the city in the summer. That's measuring temp on the hot side of the trans cooler line, coming out of the trans.

Is the Derale set up ready to go out of the box ? Do you need a filter extender or anything else to make it work ? I like the price of it at summit . The part is #14210 . Is this the same # everyone is using?

I have the Maghytech on mine. I ordered the DD for my 48RE. I wish I had a temperature gauge to give you a comparison between stock and now. All I know is the biggest issue for an automatic transmission is heat. IF I have a way to add capacity to the system for a total of 9 quarts AND have a nice magnetic drain plug too........ I am there. Sure does make maintenance easy!!

Filter extension is an even worse waste of funds.
Save the $$ you spend on the pan and address the source of the problem. The OE pan and cooling system is more than adequate to keep temps in check plus the stupid aluminum pans are a leak waiting to happen.

i think my derale one is steel ill have to check on that though. my pan was cracked so i just upgraded mine i agree about the filter extension its not like the fluid is not where it should be its the same level as the stock trans pan no difference!

A cast aluminum pan like the Maghytec presents a truer mating surface, comes with a better gasket and is far stronger, thus less vulnerable to road damage or offroad FOD.
I think you got that last part exactly backwards, no_6_oh_no!
