A/C parts numbers?

My truck came without A/C. I got a condensor and heater box thing (the big plastic thing that the A/C and heater lines run into, that sticks into the cab) off eBay over a year ago, but don't have the rest of the parts for the conversion.

Is it possible to get the rest of the parts from say, NAPA? Honestly I don't even know exactly what I need - I don't have a donor truck and A/C stuff is kind of beyond me. I assumed it couldn't be too hard though since universal A/C kits are pretty common in the old-car scene.

Any help is appreciated!

Machinios,

I'd really recommend looking at the missing factory pieces as an option. Find a junkyard and get controls/computer etc needed. In bigger cities Pick-your own parts are popular and great for projects like this.

The compressor may need a bracket which you could buy new from Cummins cheap. Being a 90 model, I'm not sure if factory hoses are available new-they are for the later models. A new aftermarket condensor is $100, and you'll need switches, dryer, etc. For all that work I'd do a new evap and heater core while you have it apart.

You should try and get the Sanden compressor and not a China made knock-off. I think dealer wholesale is $300 for a new one.

The other approach is to get an aftermarket under the dash unit and just do the compressor/bracket factory. Those universal deals look cheezy. Then you can take it to a hose builder and they can make metal/rubber hoses to go between the parts.

Think it through in advance so you don't waste $$. Ie do you want to put an intercooler on it later? IF so, now's the time to get a used radiator support and use the later model condener.
