i/c core support in a non i/c truck....

i'm sure an i/c core support would bolt right into place on my '90 but what things could i potentially run into? will my radiator fit and bolt in just like it does on my existing core support? i found a deal for one from a '93 for $100 and i think that's a good price.

You will need the grille assy for that support. The headlite buckets are higher IIRC.

Doesn’t the intercooled version have a cross flow radiator instead if a down flow?

The mounting for the radiator is in a different spot.

the radiator mount was the first thing that came to mind and just what i was afraid of. could brackets be assembled in order to make it work? i've got the i/c grill set up already, just need to buy the parking lamp assemblies. i figured it'd probably be easier to just buy the support rather than having to mod mine by moving the headlights.

Just buy an I/C radiator.

They're better than the Non i/c rads anyways. the radiators mount different between the 2.

i know where an i/c radiator is that i could have. i had trouble finding a thermostat housing in the past and have considered just building an upper hose with a 180* piece of pipe at the thermostat housing and a 90* piece at the neck of the upper tank. not sure what that would end up costing, but probably worth just buying a thermostat housing if i can find one. haven't had any luck finding one at automotive suppliers like napa or autozone. i don't think i've checked rockauto.com yet.

I've wondered what the difference is between the 1st gen and 2nd gen t-stat housings. They look almost the same on the pics I have saw and if they are check Redliner on Ebay they always have a couple of the housings from a 2nd gen 12v.

the 2nd gen 12v's should be the same. i've seen pictures from p-pumpers up to '96 and probably up to '98 that have the same housing as an i/c first gen.

My dad got our 92 I/C thermo housing off "Redlinear" on ebay, he parts the whole engines out rather than sell them whole.

sounds like in the long run i'd be better off just moving my headlights. might end up costing a little less to do so. and since my intercooler mounts differently too, it might be best to just leave it as is.

Redlinear parts the whole truck, down to a bag of bolts even. I have bought all sorts of things from him. Good parts source IMO.
