Had a hard time finding mine too, when facing the truck, it's to the left of the tranny cooler gap up inside the front bumper (near the truck's right tow hook). Unlike the 3rd gens, you don't pop the hood to access it . Of course, that's how I remembered to unplug it on my old truck- I left the hood up slightly- so now I'll probably forget and drive off with the orange snake following me.

Have a question though- the way the build sheet reads it appears that if you have the battery blankets then you also have a block heater cord- correct? Anybody?

That's just the thing, I have the cold weather package but my cord is nowhere to be found. Gonna look again when weather gets better. **** Juneau.

Chances are it is there, it's very hard to find if you don't know where to look but once you know it's right in front of you.

I bought the kit from Geno's that incorporates a water proof connection point plus the heater wire. Then I modified it to suit my own purpose. This kit is much cheaper than my old set up. Those marine plugs are expensive.

They're an option. Some dealers order them and some don't.

I have one with the battery heater plug, but can't use it on my 08

Now I'm confused. I have not looked too hard yet, but I ordered the cold weather pkg and was told I'd need to order the cable. I do have the battery blankets and plan to look for the hookup as soon as it gets light out.

Just where is the cable going to connect to the engine block?? Does it connect the batteries too or do I need another cable for them???

A picture would help a lot. I am real confused now.

Thanks, Larry

On the passenger side of the motor, directly behind the oil filter there will be a green plastic cap that screws off and allows you to plug the cord in. Best to do when you do an oil change, the filter makes it kind of awkward to tighten up.

Thanks Marc, Is it linked to the battery blankets too or is that another cord?

I have to order some filters from Geno's so I'll order the cord they have too.

Found mine after looking a couple times all over the front end. Found it right above the passenger side tow hook. Gotta look all up in there.

Is just a heavy duty extension cord ok to use on those or is there some special cord that is needed? I've seen a couple special ones, think they just had a gfci integrated in them but I don't want to spend big bucks on one.
