Whats the best way to flush a 47re?

there are several companies that do trans flushes... be wary of the ones that use an outside pump to force the new fluid through the trans as they can over pressure the seals and cause leaks. i have found the bg trans service to be the best available in my area (a couple of shops use it) the bg flush uses the trucks trans pump to run the fluid through. they disconnect the line from the trans to the trans cooler and reconnect a line to the cooler for the new fluid. they then flush with new fluid until a complete exchange is done. aprox 2x capacity to ensure complete exchange. i have done it on all my auto trans cars for the last couple of years no leaks or issues.

My buddy's dad is a mechanic and offers the BG trans service. He stands behind it 100%. He also says that if you just drop the pan and change the filter every 20,000 - 30,000 miles you are probably just as well off.

I'll second that. I try to change my tranny oil every other motor oil change, or sooner if any heavy towing got the tranny hot. That way all I have to do is drain the pan and replace the filter. Now if your oil is really super dirty, yeah, then a complete flush would probably be necessary.

I flush it by disconnecting the the hose that goes to the cooler put a pan under the hose. Pour about 4-5 qts in the tranny. Then crank it and put in neutral for about 30-45 seconds. Put it in park and add 2 more quarts. Repeat until you get it clean. It only takes about twice for me. Seemed to work fine but it does take an extra 4-5 qts.
