Best Wax
It really depends on how you want your wax to perform. Carnuba beads really well and has a good shine, but last about 1-3 months depending on weather and washings. Developments in synthetic wax resulted in a shine that is close to carnuba and lasts up to 3 times longer or more. I like them both for what they do. It just depends. Do you like to wash and wax your truck a lot and have it shine like a diamond? Or do you like to wax it every once and awhile, but have good protection from the elements with a decent shine?
In that case a carnuba would be best. You'll need a light polish to get rid of the scratches. Then use a glaze, then a wax. The nice thing about carnubas is they layer very well. Just for availability I use the Meguiars Professional stuff. It's good, but not the best. You could use the Pinnacle Souveran Wax. $80 for 8oz. It's what show cars guys use.
I do clay bar on the horizontal surfaces, then top with Meguiar's Professional High-Tech Yellow Wax #26 in the beige bottle.
It makes it so slick I can't lay my towel on the hood, it just slides off. I do this about once a year.
