Best air filter for compound turbos?

Curious what is the best filter for use with compound turbos? Dry or oil -- which brands?

Presently I have the filter that came with my BD tow twins (upgraded to 700 race twins, but still have same filter). No specs came with the filter so I cannot compare it to others. It is an oil style filter (pale, light greenish color).

I'm thinking of a dry-style filter next. Of course, there may be nothing wrong with my current filter -- just curious if anyone changed to a different brand and got better air flow?

I am only curious about compound turbo applications. Thanks.

I think either AFE filter would work fine.

When I was running the BD tow twins I was thinking the same as you since the filter in the BD kit is physically smaller than filters supplied in other manufacturers' compound turbo kits.

I ended up replacing the AFE Pro-Guard 7 oiled filter supplied in the BD kit with a physically larger Amsoil #4510 dry filter.

The Amsoil gave noticeably better oil analyses results in terms of Si, but the flow appeared less by my visual interpretation of the Amsoil filter looking like it collapsed a bit.

I had the same problem with the amsoil filter. It looked like it was collapsing, I cleaned it per instructions and then it sucked shut when I loaded up the TNT and put it on 9. The air filter would suck closed at 17psi boost and truck would barely run and tons of smoke. That took a bit to figure out because the filter would look pretty normal at idle.

I run S&B Filters on my compound setup. They will build you filters to your specs as long as no special tooling is required.
