Banks doesn't stack well because of its safety parameters. I had one, enjoyed it for what it was, liked the pda and the built in gauges and displays. It had adequate power, not 126hp as advertised, but enough to smoke the tires. It will give you better fuel mileage, and good towing characteristics, but not a top notch high performer. If you're looking for gobs of power, you may be disappointed. Banks delivers its main power in the upper rpms past 2200rpms and pretty much flatlines at 2700.

My brother in law has one sitting on the shelf in his garage that he took off his truck that he is now driving around in stock form - if that tells you anything.

You should have your brother in law call Gale Banks and demand a ride in the Sidewinder since he paid for 1/2 of the R&D when he purchased that overpriced box.

I have the Banks Six Shooter with PDA and I am happy with it. Is it the most powerful module/ programmer on the market -> no. But, it is a safe upgrade that is very reliable. And besides that, unlike everyone else on here, I have had nothing but GREAT experiences with the tech service at Banks. I've also assisted in the installs of the Edge and Bully Dog programmers/ modules onto other CR trucks. IMHO, Bully Dog is the worst programmer that anyone caring about they're vehicle can buy. I know several that bought the Bully Dog, installed it, then took it off and sold it.

If its with the pda it won't be complicated, but tedious. There are 11 plugs that have to be found and replaced with the banks wiring, For all thats involved in it it wouldn't be worth the power you see, unless you strictly tow or don't want anything too crazy.

Truck524...how do you like the dr. performance box, my step-father's brother has one on his CTD and man i tell you that thing is awesome. Great gas mileage and when he tows, he blows past everyone. I was really impressed. So impressed that i am thinking about selling the old Smarty Jr. and getting one of them. Just my 2 cents though, and i know every truck is different.

I have a banks 6 gun with speedloader right now and as some said, I like it for what it is. Its a great, SAFE chip that adds plenty of power for towing and daily driving, but like they said, if you want an extreme performer, the 6 gun isn't it. It doesn't stack good at all even with the smarty. But like I said, its a good safe powerful chip for towing and daily driving. I'm selling mine right now cause I just got a new tranny and am ready for some more power
