Ats Tc & Vb

I'm looking to get a ats VB and TC, my ats dealer intown says I wont need any billet shafts or flex plate that the factory is strong enough. I will prolly run the bd CL program and maybe a turbo and injectors in the future thats asmuch I wanna go. Can I add billet shafts & flex plate in the future?

Is there is any difference then a factory tranny with a ats vb and a non-built tranny from ats with their vb?

My options for VB in town are BD, ATS or a shift kit.

I recommend going with the NADP stuff, works good. Personally if you plan on running more than 450 500 hp, you should have billet stuff. There is an NADP in Grande Prairie,, Im sure that they would help you out. They have been really good to me, tell them that I sent you,

I will be in gp to this spring/summer for the logger show. I'll give them a call and see what they say. I wasn't really looking forward to spending 6k+ on a tranny setup. I only keep my trucks for 2yrs.

A friend of mine bulds DTTs. He got on some slippery road getting on a highway and spun it a bit and the input shaft twisted right off. It was an oem, fyi.

I also have read of a member pulling heavy and twisted it off. A minimum is to use billet on the input and also upgrade your flex plate. The flex plate really cost me the $$$. When it blew it was like a grenade. A sound I don't ever want to hear again. My $.02.

PG that is for the full race series,, you dont need that necesarily. Grande Prairie is giving you a better price because of me, if people calling in mention that they were talking to me, they get a special price. I told Kelly that you might be calling. You should be able to get away with a 450 series, which would be less money. But for what you are planning on doing, I wouldnt go with anything less. BTW, when you come up let me know, catch up for a beverage

"Can I add billet shafts & flex plate in the future?"

I'm getting a billet input for now and skipping the flex plate to save $'s.....i was told it's only 1+ hrs labor to add the flexplate later....but the input is more involved...so i chose to go with it....

"Is there is any difference then a factory tranny with a ats vb and a non-built tranny from ats with their vb?"

Just adding a vb / tc wont get you the upgraded 2nd and thrid gear stuff and some other misc.....not sure how much that stuff matters....

I personally wouldnt run without a better flexplate. You have to remember that is the first line of tourqe.

I'm only shootng for Smarty Level 7 (+130hp) (about 425hp??) for right now, no boosted launches......should i worry about the flex plate with that?

The plan was to get the GDP392 and Flexplate next....and then go to level 9....then turbo to keep the egt's down.

Thoughts?

Also, if i get the flexplate done....with the other stuff (not including billet output), can i do 10psi boosted launches safely? Or do you need a billet output or anything else to do that?

Get the flexplate...the stock ones die and early death especially when you add the huge low end torque of the smarty to the mix.

The difference I was told between the 450 and the race is the 450 doesn't have no billit shafts nor the flex plate. But everything else is the same. I was leaning more towards the race, cause I do the burn outs from gravel to pavement, and busting nuts in a parking lot or 2x4/4x4 as mush boost u can get launches. Everything u shouldn't do with the truck.

Funny, thats what I was just pondering.

Fred talked me into the flex plate too, along with some other mysterious stuff. I'd be just stinking giddy to trade you transmission bills.

So, did you get your install date yet. Late June for me.
