Did all my 7500 mile maintenance...Used Rotella T 15w40 and had been hearing about the distinct smell...I took it out and got it up to normal operating temp and could only smell it a LITTLE bit...even after the second and third time of going out, it was faint...were others really having that BIG of a problem with the smell? My motor is running MUCH smoother and quieter...Reckon I found me a keeper brand

Different noses on different people. They definitely sell a lot of it and it is the only oil that my local Sam's Club sells in a 55 gallon drum. Even at that I use Valvoline but that is me.

Thats what I use too...although I never noticed a smell. Do you change your oil at 7500?? I go about 4500...probaly overkill though.

Yeah, I am going to go off the maintenance schedule in the book...claims 15000 miles if you don't dog or pull with your truck and 7500 if you do. The only things in there that I am going to do more frequently than asked is to check the stowage and pressure of the spare and check my drive belt more frequently (15000 miles is not frequent enough for somethings that can leave you stranded in the middle of a desert road somewhere at 2am). All the other maintenance scheduling in there sounds pretty reasonable with how economical these vehicles are built these days. Now my father's 99' 2nd Gen gets new oil every 3000, but he puts an average of 58,500 a year on his truck pullin the gooseneck and his truck is 8 years old.

Also, there were changes made to the location/type of the breather tube; and the cowl plenum filters were changed/added as well - all to help keep the aroma of #2 and oil out of the cab.
