Afe Prodry Vs. Proguard 7

Anyone know if the afe prodry filter filters as well as the proguard 7 filter?

thinking of purchasing an intake, just not sure which filter to get. id rather use a dry filter, but only if it filters as good.

btw, will i notice any/much noise increase over my stock gutted intake?

no it does not filter as good. i emailed afe and asked them.

wreedCTD, what was the response that you got back from AFE? I too am curious to find out how the Pro Dry S filtration compares to the Proguard 7.

No, the Pro Guard 7 series filter offers the best filtration protection out there. The Pro Dry - S series filter will offer better air flow.

The Prodry is only .1% lower in coarse dust filtration. The PG7 is better with fine dust filtration, but they did not do the fine dust test on the Prodry. Either that, or they have not released the results. The Dry filter will flow more air than the oiled PG7. You can hear the airflow, as well as the turbo at idle and at any boost level. IMO the turbo spools more quickly as well. It comes down to what is more important and the conditions you drive. If you are driving dirt/gravel/offroad, go oiled. If you are like me and drive tons of highway miles, go dry. The oiled PG7 filters better and the ProDry flows more air and is much easier to maintain.

I have owned both by the way. I have the ProDry now and am very pleased with it's performance. I pulled the torque tube the other day after 5k miles and it was still perfectly clean inside.
