90 d350
90 d350
Ok, I found a '90,D350 single wheel, 5sp. with appx. 250k on it. I've seen pics only, and it has small rust under the door and a small amount above a rear wheel. Asking $1,500 OBO. Tell me about the '90 model. What type of trans. is this. Is it any good. Could another 5sp or 6sp be swapped in? This truck sure is different than my '97 2500 4x4. Any help is welcomed
Thanks

If it is the factory 5sd, it is the getrag. Many people like them, some prefer the nv4500 that came out in the 2nd gen trucks. NV4500 (5spd) and nv5600(6spd) can be swapped in with proper engine to tranny adapter plate. They all have an adapter plate. It is just a matter of having the right one.
I would guess that with 250k, either the tranny was properly taken care of or has already been replaced. Check the sticky gor tips on making the getrag live.
In the northwest $1500 is a pretty low price for a running truck without serious problems. Good luck.

the getrag can take alot of abuse, if you keep oil in them and make sure to reset the preload on the bearings they will last.
