550 HP or just "Hot Air" - Opinions please.
Met a guy at Truck Nightg last night who claimed to have 550 HP on tap in a 01.
Here is the mod list: (Now bear with me, a few are extremely fake)
- a stock turbo converted to VGT
- 150HP EDGE Injectors (Entire injectors)
- Edge with Juice
- Banks High Ram
- BD trans
- BD converter
- Pre and post pyro
- 100HP VP for $2600
- FASS without filters
Now, what do you 24v guys make of this?

Stock turbo, "VGT" or not, will not provide enough air for 550 without spray, unless there is a bigger turbo underneath it. Sounds like that BD VP someone posted a while ago, along with the banks parts, sounds like more money than brains IMO. I don't think he has the fuel for 550, let alone enough air.

The VGT turbos are built in a number of variants you wouldn't expect. The HY55 has a VGT version (this is like an HX55).
I've never heard of a VGT HX40, but holset builds tons of variants for a myriad of different applications.
There's a VERY good chance that if it *is* a VGT charger then it's newer generation HE series.

Could be a crankshaft power rating. Rear wheel are about 10 to 15% lower than crankshaft. 150 sized sticks would smoke lots and create lots of heat (egt's) for almost any single until its up its pressure curve. I don't know if the HX35 turbine housing would fit on a Hx-40. There are tons of different Hx-35 or Hx-40 configurations. Put her on the juice and you might get 550 rwhp, people do that everyday.

Let me be more clear - it is a STOCK TURBO. I laughed when he said it was converted to VGT.
We even looked at the compressor wheel - (and popped out the silencer for him)
With the Juice completely off, the truck barely smoked - wouldn't it cause pollution with the 150hp injectors?
