518 Rebuild Kit and Converter Recommendations needed
My brother's 1993 W250's 518 gave up, so we need to rebuild it.
Power levels are a little more than stock. So far the truck has an HX35 turbo, POD injectors, 3200 rpm governor spring, and a few minor pump adjustments. He might upgrade the fuel pin and add a HT3B turbo or something in the next year or two, so a straight stock rebuild might not be the best way to go. This is for a daily driver type truck, with some car hauling thrown in once in a while.
I've looked and searched, but I'm still unsure as to the best bang for the buck rebuild kit. I'm leaning towards a kit from DTT with a matching low stall converter. Do any of the rebuild kits come with shift kits, or is that something I need to buy separate? I've emailed DTT and Goerend a few weeks ago, but I'm thinking that calling might be needed, as I've had no replies yet.
