What are the dangers of running the 4kgsk without hd valve springs?

 

Floating valves meeting up with tops of pistons that is if you spin the motor up that high.

None really if u watch ur tach

I run the 4K kit without them at the moment, and without keepers and retainers, Yeah i know someone me. Anyways So long as you do not rev the engine excessively above 3200-3500 RPMS ull be ok. Remember its at about 3700 or so that valve float starts to occur, so keep it below that and ull be fine..

Anyways by then, as another safety measure for me, my tach is at 3300 or so and my pyro is in the red with my fuel, so for me savin my headgasket, pistons, and valves all runs in one But im "minorly" overfueled

and, We are running 4k gsk in our 95 dodge 215 std now too, without HD valve springs, i just bought a set of only HD springs from a guy for 108 bucks,
PM me if ya wanna see if he got another set for ya!

and i know New Era Diesel sells them for 150 bucks!

the HD springs are a loooot taller and stiffer and thicker!

With an Auto tranny - 4GSK is fine without valve springs. You'd have to purposely push it to get it to rev up there (like in neutral, etc...)

 

no danger... I had them in my 215 pump... just don't go over 3400ish, and you'll be fine

 

Got them installed tonight. Throttle isnt horribly touchy like i expected. So far ive had it to 3500 and it runs pretty clean. Im afraid to go over 3500rpm but i still have some pedal left so im pretty sure i could get at least about 3800 or so out of it if i had the HD valve springs.

 

Yes. Mine will do 4450+. I don't have the stomach to rev it higher.

Still lovin that trans? How high does it shift durring a WOT run?

 

The stock tach will run higher if you pull the pin out. I like the trans, but I'm having tuning issues. Its shifting at WOT right as the power falls off around 3800. The problem is that light throttle street driving causes it to go 1-2-3-OD within the first 30 mph. I can't tune the TV cable any more, so I think I'll need a different VB?

Yeah that was one of my concerns when I was talking to Bill and Steffan but they assured me it could be done so.......? I plan on doing the trans after the kids are back in school since its too busy with them out. I will pm you in a month or so to see how you have made out. Good luck with it
