4 inch Exhaust Question

I just had my truck inspected and was told that my exhaust will need to be replaced soon. I was thinking about going to a 4 inch, but was wondering if I would have to, or should, change the turbo for this upgrade? I know in past reading that many of you have gone this route so I would be thankful for your thoughts.
I was thinking that a 4 inch wouldn't make much difference if there is a bottle neck at the turbo. Is this line of thinking right or wrong.
What all will be involved in this upgrade?

I'd stick with factory turbo and a 4" unless your trying to build some kind of hot rod truck. Then you'll need to be looking at injectors, etc. If it's under warranty, I wouldn't change anything.

unless your goen to get bigger injectors and a timing box, a bigger turbo might hurt u...tooo much lag if u arent fueling it.

Running a 4 inch with no other mods will not hurt anything. Great improvement over stock and if you decide to upgrade in the future, you will already have the exhaust.

I used MBRP T409 SS Turbo-Back with T305 SS Band clamps instead of the supplied Exhaust clamps which crimp the pipes together.

I got the MBRP from xtremediesel here http://www.xtremediesel.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=1131 with free shipping. Pipes came with rods welded on to fit in existing stock hangers. Easy to install and great fit. Get a 5 in SS tip and it looks awesome. The muffler has a deep throaty sound and drones some at 2000 RPM but I'm used to it now and love the sound. Also consider adding a BHAF or high flow filter (air in + air out = more power). I used AFE Stage 1.

I'd just go to your local big rig shop and have them make you a 4" straight pipe. Probably save money that way.

I have 4" ss and a ATS 3 peice manafold on my rig and I still dont like that bottle neck right after the turbo. I have been told that if I can get 4" from the turbo back I can drop EGT's and enjoy a quicker spool up. Would just a exhaust hausing work.

Just put an aluminized 4" turboback on it and a used Edge EZ for 65 safe hp. It'll be a different vehicle. Clutch and/or tranny safe.

As I am maturing faster than I would like to admit, and am more acustom to a quieter ride these days for comfort, while putting miles under my feet towing and traveling, can you tell me will the 4 inch Stainless exhaust be much louder? Wanting the enhanced performance, I didn't think about noise. Right now it appears I have both a resonator and a muffler (stock exhaust) on the truck and the noise level isn't too bad. The MBRP, Summit Racing and others I've looked appear to show only a muffler, and a pretty small one at that, so is the noise level going to be much higher? Traveling long distance with noise can be rather uncomfortable. If this is the case, is there a way to have the best of both worlds, 4 inch exhaust and not much more noise?

Some have run two mufflers back to back to cut back on the volume.

I have the 4" Summit Racing system and quite frankly I thought it would be much louder. I still hear the engine over the exhaust.
