3" Suspension and Wheel Offset ???

My dad has an '06 MegaCab and he is looking to soften up the ride a bit. He's getting a little older and wants something that rides a little smoother on and off the road. What we want to know is this: can he run a 305/65/18 BFG A/T on 18x9 wheels with 5" backspacing and have no rub? He is looking at the Carli Starter System or the KORE Recon series. I think both have 3" of lift in the front and about an inch in the rear. Any help here guys?

Also..... can anyone shed any light as to which of these kits will have the greatest on and off-road ride? I'm sure both will be better than stock. We both have no real experience with suspension systems. The KORE has variable rate springs but we're not sure on the Carli kit.

Sorry for all the questions....

I think that backspacing will give you trouble. I recommend a minimum 5.5" on a 9" wheel.

I hear the KORE spring has a more firm ride than the Carli spring. Can't confirm this first hand, just what I hear. I'm guessing your Dad would prefer the Carli spring.

I pm'd you as well about the Thuren stuff Pauly; don't know if you ever got it. I have been looking through the pages and searching them; from what I have gathered the Carli springs seem to have a softer rate than KORE's. Not completely sure on that either. I just know we're trying to figure out which one has the softest rate. Does Don's springs/shocks ride really good?

Of course we understand that it IS a truck and won't ride like a car and we don't want it too; just looking for something better than stock.

Got your PM and just responded...sorry for the delay.

Yeah, Don's springs are awesome. I'm pretty sure they are the softest of all the major players. And from what I gather KORE's are the stiffest.
