2nd Gen noisier than first Gen?

It seems that the engine is noisier on my 2nd Gen than my first Gen.Does this have anything to do with a P-pump vs. a VE pump? I think I need my valves adjusted and my timing checked?I don't think the valves have been adjusted for 75,000 miles, and the timing probably never in 120,000miles.Is it time?

Yes, it's noticably noisier. And a 24-valve unit will be even more noisy. It's moslty the P-7100 pump (on 12V models) and it seems that the engine is simply less "buried" in the truck than the first gen models. Less actual space to the fenders, hood, etc. Enjoy the sound - it's not "noise."

I prefer to call it music... Even my wife misses how loud the 99 was (straight pipe in front of the wheel)
