23 psi at idle!!!

TROUBLE!
I installed a FASS a few months ago, and just got the FP gauge hooked up; It is reading 23+ psi at idle - this CANNOT be good for my vp, how can I fix this?

Thx / Rauschbo

Call up DPP or who ever you bought it from and tell them that you want a different pressure spring.

They gave me a 3-day minimum delivery....

In the interim, I am thinking about removing the return line ball valve and cutting a wee bit off of the spring to cause the valve to open sooner.... - shave a bit at a time and test it...? I think I recall reading about someone trying this?

23 is good at idle (according to how my hubby explained it to me). Mine runs 21 at idle and still doing good. What's it running at WOT? That when you have to worry, is when it starts dropping to really low.

It will come down. Mine use to idle at 20+. Now its 17 and on a stock motor I can bring it to 12 pounds. I change the filter and cleaned the water separator and no difference. I wouldnt give it a second thought.

I don't have a FASS, but I am running 21-24 at idle. Full throttle, won't go below 18-19. I have had zero hard starts or any other problems.

I wouldn't worry. When I first put mine on I was seeing 25psi at idle. After a few days it settled down to 19.5psi at idle. I can only pull it down 2psi at wot though.

Give it a few days.

Do you have any hard starting issues?

Starts like a champ, 1/2 a revolution, usually;

I'm worried about overpressurizing the VP diaphragm, I believe that this will kill it as surely as too litttle pressure....

I've had the FASS on since early Jan (?), and have maybe 250 miles on it since;

Is it everyone's belief that:
1) It's okay to run at these high pressures
2) The pump will "wear in" and get down to the 18-20 psi range?

250 miles in the last 4 1/2 months? Saves on fuel I guess

I wouldn't worry. Did DPP say this is too high?

....been driving the ricer...at 37mgp combined!

My dealer is ordering me a new spring, I spoke with someone at DPP, he told me that I could cut a bit off of the return check-ball spring....he didn't sound too concerned, the VP apparently has it's own overpressure valve?

Okay, NOW it gets weird: Under hard acceleration, it went from 23 psi to......30 psi? I thought the pressure should drop under increased demand?

Under not-quite WOT, I am reading about 19 psi...that seems pretty normal....

i have the BD pusher pump kit and i run at 34 at idle and 26 at WOT. i havent had one prob with my setup and i have had it one for about 8 months. all i no is after 3 VP44s, i would much rather have hight presure than very low presure.

Note: The 19 psi I see at not-quite-WOT is BOOST pressure, the FP is ~30 psi....
