I'm running these...and so far, so good. I've put almost 10,000 miles on them. When I bought the truck (used), these were new tires. I have not run them in snow yet, and the mud/dirt use has been minimal (got a Jeep for that), but as a highway tire I am pleased. No lane wander, no tread whine, and no hydroplaning in rain (the sheer weight of the truck might have something to do with that, however). The open lugs do pick up gravel and fling it around the fenderwells, but at least they clear out quickly and at low speed. It's time to rotate (the tread shows little wear, and seems to be wearing evenly).

All in all, Firestone Transforce appears to be a good choice, although I am looking at something different (maybe Goodyear DuraTracs) when the time comes to replace these.

I do not know how these compare in price (I've seen a wide range of prices in the E rated tires we use), but if the Firestone Transforce are in the middle or lower part of that spectrum, I would consider another set.

I just put a set of 285/75/16 Hankook RF-10's on my truck 2000miles ago.. Good tires so far and thats will plenty of offroad drving (logging roads/trails)and they handle wet pavement well (no hydroplaneing) without being noisy. They also hold up well to sharp blast rock that usually cuts up most tires pretty bad. I was going to buy some BFG's AT for more money but the tire shop owner convinced me to try these out, he runs them on his trucks. I read a bunch of reviews and have to agree the Hankook RF-10's are a good well made tire. I'd recomend them, I can't comment how they do in snow/ice yet (soon) but I'll let you know.

I'm runnin both Coopers and Generals on our trucks. My truck has the Cooper STT's, which I like so far. Bought them at the end of winter last year, and know what what? Didnt snow again after the truck was reshoed. haha. They have done well in the rain and dry pavement. Have a slight hum on the road. Actually for as aggressive as the tread is (to me looks just like the MTR but with siping) I was hoping for it to be a little louder. Too quiet to me. Did notice a slight "floating" feeling with em right at 1st, but once they settled in it went away. (could of been going from "slicks" to mud tire, no? lol).

The General Grabber AT 2's are on the wife's truck, an '05 Excursion. Love em. Much much better than the stocker bf long trails, or what ever it came with. Had the truck in ft of snow backing up a loading ramp. no slippage at all, and that was with just enough throttle to push through the snow. Yeah it was in 4 H, but if ya lay into the throttle in a ft of snow even in 4 it'll spin em, but then again we do drive trucks, right??

The generals do have a nice slight hum to em, but you cant really notice it in the cab. From out side and listening to her leave is about the only time I hear it. Not loud like a swamper, but not a street tire quiet either. nice compromise I think.

Oh and both tires are stock size.

We run Firestone Transforce on our corporate trucks and they hold up great but they do not make a 17" yet.

You need to check out the Firestone web site. The do make 17, and 18 and the price for 265-70-17 are $175 mounted and balanced at local tire shop.

I have the Hankook M/T and they are an ok tire. I have 15K miles on them and I am thinking I'll get 30K if not more out of them. They are louder than toyo m/ts or bfg all terrains. I got them for 970 shipped which is great for a 35 inch tire.

That is a good site. Too bad they don't have a review for the Hankook RF-10, as it seems a few people have them and like them. The Cooper Zeon LTZ look interesting.

By the way, I saw the Toyo M-55's that are in the other post. For those who had them what did you like about them? long tread life, good in the snow? Are they really louder that other AT tires, worth the money? I am thinking i will just stick to the stock tire size since I probably won't really gain any mpgs.

Transforce's are made in 17's. I have a set. Nice highway tread, but they're definately a highway tread, bad in the snow. Don't buy them for plowing!

Firestone transforce is a GREAT tire. I've had at least 3 sets on my work trucks with no problems and got above 50k around town miles.

I just bought Firestone Destinations (285s) for my truck. I read the thread above about buying an E load range for heavy loads and hope I don't have trouble ahead. I push snow also and have 4000lbs+ in the bed to start the night. I also pull a 23000lb trailer from time to time also (did it today acutally). The load range E that came on the truck were rated at 3195lbs at a certain psi. The tire salesman sold me D load range and showed me they were rated at 3195lbs also. I'm confused with that, but it does say that on the original tires and the new ones. So far I love the Firestone Destinations, but did just get them.

I would never buy Goodyear. I think they are junk, but that is my opinion. I mounted tires for about a year and Goodyears were always coming in with problems.

You won't go wrong with Firestone, Hancook, Michelin, or some BFGs. Good luck.
