DMV said they are extending the due dates 30 days if your tags were due in July for them holding the notices back. Check it out on the DMV site.

In some counties in Utah, diesels have to be smogged at the county inspection station. When I lived in Davis county, I took my truck in for its inspection and they strapped it to the rollers and ran it up with a hose hooked to the tailpipe to check for opacity. I left the J/A on stock and turned the EZ to the lowest setting and they didn't say anything about it. I did fail the safety portion of my inspection for not having a muffler. I asked how a muffler makes the truck "safer". They said it had to have a muffer. BS
So I put a SS MBRP cat back on it...then I moved out of Davis county.

Mine was due in July for the '93 and I got the notice two weeks ago and it had a deadline of July 31st! The fees went up again too but I figured that would happen........

anyone care to share their reg. fee's on an '04 2500 4x4 ? I'm about to buy one and am curious as to what i'll be paying.
I'm not concerned about the smog issue since i work at a smog shop.
But reading this thread and listening to you guys has been a crack up. While i realize the program is to put $ into the states empty pockets, i welcome the inspections, and wish the cops had the ***** to enforce smog laws that are in place. Watching some of these "tuned up" diesels belch out black smoke really pisses me off.

Had to get my truck smogged in AZ last week. All they did was check the fuel cap, do a visual check for the cat, do a smoke "opacity" test with some kind of light pointed at the tailpipe while they had me run it up to redline (three times), and ask me if the truck was "chipped". Truck is bone stock, according to the compliance certificate they issed me the max allowed opacity percentage is 40.0, mine came in at 7.8%. The state charged me $28.00 for this wonderful service.

It's a habit they get into because most smog checks are on gas engines.
If they fail it for the gas cap...I would point out that this is a diesel engine and not subject to any of the vapor collection that the gas engines are required to have.

I'm surprised at the amount of fees. Weight fee was supposed to be reduced by about 50% because we didn't extend the higher taxes we had. Sales tax is down 1%.

I just paid my reg and it was was $414. Counties have their own different fees. The county I live in charges $24. Heck, my 1993 Jeep cherokee cost $98 to register.
Really sucks when you have three vehicles to register and smog all within a four month period. No wonder I have no money...

Thanks to you, Slow, I looked closer at my renewal notices.... the Fox has a $4 county fee, both the CTD and '07 Toy Solara (wife's) have a $10 county fee. What is puzzling, though, is the Toy has a $20 Smog Abatement Fee and the CTD has none. Both also have $0 listed for "Owner Responsibility Fee". WTHeck? I wonder what they are gonna try to charge me in 2013, an "Attempt to Flee the State Fee"?
