Starter motor question
Today my starter wouldn't engage. No click, nothing. I tried the old trick of banging on the starter a few times with a 12" crescent wrench and it started right up.
In addition, when warm, the starter doesn't spin as fast as is does when the engine is cold.
I am assuming the low cost fix of some like a LarryB's starter starter rebuild kit will address the starter not engaging, but not the dragging when warm. So I need to probably spend the extra money for something like a NAPA rebuilt starter. Am I correct?

Slow when warm, that is rare! I cannot think of any causes other than worn internals of the starter- I wouldn't go napa, a quality OEM from foster truck would be my choice.

Yep, as an owner of a NAPA brand new starter, I can assure you I will pony up the extra for a new Denso starter when it is time.
I think Larry also sells all the parts to rebuild your old one, even the armature if required.
