Without pictures, it didn't happen

Ok guys, God loves me more than I can imagine. Almost 3 years ago, Feb. 09, I lost the top of my timing case due to the KDP.

At the time, I had to fix it that night, so I simply patched over the top with some 3M Aluminum body repair tape, and then coated it with JB weld. For almost 2 years, it leaked only very slightly. Well, time took it's toll, and the oil ate the adhesive, and she started to leak. Now, looking at the case, and the pin that I found, I had a picture in my head of what the inside of my case had to look like. I mean, there just ISN'T room for that pin to get where it exited without thrashing the case, and the pin looked like it had been thru the wars, so I really dreaded taking that cover off. I am slow this week at work, so I figured it didn't get better than now.

Imagine my shock when I pulled the cover, and found a pristine case, except for the aforementioned hole!

Off to the nearby Bridgeport, a aluminum bridge was fitted, and the tab was installed.........

Did I mention God really loves me?

Good job and you saved yourself a ton of money. How did you catch all the chips from falling down into the oil pan? All that grinding, drilling and tapping. My luck a chip would find it's way into the oil pump and sieze it up or worse.

The only work done to the case was the drilling and tapping of the bridge hold down bolts, and for that, I stuffed rags clean to the back of the case, and used grease on the drill and tap. Not saying I didn't get anything in, but if it did, it wasn't much or very big at all.

I drill holes into the 6.7 turbo's all the time for cleaning ports but I use hose with a shop vac to catch all the metal chips and hope for the best.
