Wyoming to Texas- need help/advice

If there is a better place to post please let me know...
I have 3 pieces of furniture - a queen electric bed, entertainmant center, small dresser(nightstand), that I need moved to San Antonio. I am in northern Wyoming. Most moving companies do not go to Wyoming (don't pick up enough load I guess, or the ones that do charge a minimum of $10,000). I thought about using a U-Haul truck and pulling my car, but found out I can't do this (forgot the reason why now...). I need to get at least the bed to SA at least. Are there smaller haulers for something like this? I am desperate by now! What can I do? I don't have to have the things brought down at a specific time- whenever someone goes through Wyoming is ok....
What do you guys suggest? I have advertised on Craigslist with no luck. THX

there is a site called uship.com you can post the shipment there and smaller haulers or a larger hauler with some room will bid on your shipment. you pay the agreed bid on price. the hauler pays about 10% to u ship. keep in mind these people are there to make a living so don't expect it for free with fuel prices between 4.25 - 4.50 out your way

good luck

How about www.pods.com or www.1800packrat.com? You pack it and have them deliver the unit to SA when you get there. Might also check with some of the commercial (not moving) freight trucking companies to see if they have a partial truck load headed south.

Doesn't sound like too big a load. Any chance you could tow a u-haul trailer behind your car?

the only reason I can think of that you cannot tow your car with a U-Haul, is it is too big to go on the tow dolly. Almost any car should be able to go on a auto transport. I know there are some exceptions to the big older cars. Another option is have a trailer hitch put on your car and rent a U-Haul trailer. Just my two cents, Mike.

How valuable is the furniture? Any family attachments? I ask because sometimes it's better just to sell it or leave it and get new stuff. I agreed to pull a uHaul from Texas to West Virginia for my BIL. He moved there, then came back later for his stuff. I bet he spent $2000 to accomplish that. If I would have seen what he wanted to haul up there I wouldn't have done it. I bet he couldn't have got $100 for it all in a garage sale. I enjoyed the trip though, on his dime.

I agree about selling. Beds are cheap.

For what it would cost to rent a truck to haul those few items, you can replace them with better items. A bed can be improved, on, an entertainment center is rarely worth shipping, and a night stand is so replaceable it isn't even funny.
dump the stuff and get new stuff.
