Weight Station in I-95 (Stafford, VA)

Can I stop by at this weight station on I-95 near of Stafford, VA and weight my 30 foot camper and truck? Anything I need to know prior to getting in to the station? I noticed some traffic lights on the ramp, how that works, and do I get out of the truck, or I drive stop and the attendace will let me know the weight? Also, do I need to pay for the use of the weight station or it is free? I know that I saw the Stafford, VA weight station open, and I want to drive to their and weight the trailer. Thank you for all your wisdom.

you could go to a truck stop and not have to deal with anyone but the truckstop attendants and get your weight.

You could go here to find a scale or there is a couple at the 104 exit on 95 south of Stafford.

I wouldn't mess with the state weigh station, I'd use a truck stop.

The weight stations are not for public use.....go to a truck stop or a sand and rock quarry even some public dumps will weight you

If its the weigh station Im thinkin about right before you get to Springfield going northbound, Id seriously suggest against. Not only is that weigh station always busy. Its also in one of the most congested areas of the entire DC area. If your going to go this route Id look for another station

edit: might wanna try PMing Dodgezilla, he lives in that area and maybe he could check for you

There are plenty of moving companies that will weigh your truck for about $10.00. Victory van on Pickett Street in Alexandria or Interstate Van Lines on Rolling Road in Springfield. I work right around the corner from Victory van. PM me if you need addresses....

I could be wrong, but I suspect if you cruise into a DOT weigh station pulling your camper, you're gonna get chewed out big time.

I have weighed my truck and trailer a couple of times at a weigh station, when I saw that there were no trucks in line due to good timing I guess. Went in and out real fast so a truck did not come up and wait for me.

That is sort of a carrot and stick routine. I would not trust them not to give a full check out. A truck stop is $7.00 and you get a full printout of the axle groups and gross.

Thank you very much for all the information, I am going to take Dodgezilla recommendation and go to Interstate Van line in Springfield (10 minutes away from home).
