Truck Camper Magazine picks Ram 3500 for project truck
6.4 gasser, they are getting intriguing mileage numbers though.
http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/n...-2014-ram-3500 Still, you get twice the torque from the mighty Cummins [roll], and get the difference in initial cost back at resale, and then some (gas vs. diesel). |
That's a decently written article... It looks like a good deal, but they probably never drove a diesel, or have not driven one for the last 10 years...
|
Almost had me convinced. But after having a Cummins for over 4 years now I don't know if I could ever go back to a Hemi (which is what was in my 08 Mega Cab). Great thought provoking article though.

They went by the guess-o-meter, instead of actually figuring it.
|
I noticed that too, but when I hand calculate over a long trip, the lie-o-meter and hand calculations were kind of close.
|
Friend of mine here sold his 06 3500 Mega diesel and factory ordered a 6.4.
Maybe he'll comment. Overall, he's pleased. |
Yes, I could live with the 6.4L in a Power Wagon.

I know I am a few generations behind but I get 12.9mpg give or take .5 on every tank, it does not matter if I'm in the mountains or flat ground.

Sounds like the 6.4 is a good option for those looking for a gasser
