Tripple singles VS Dual tandem

Ok I'm gonna be in the market for a new trailer here in the near future and was wondering what the opinions were between 3 7000lb axles VS a dual tandem setup.

Please discuss

Tire wear VS inaccessibility? I would look at the type of driving I do with the trailer. If a lot of straight highway few turns then I would go triple axle, if tight turns are involved I would go dual tandem.

There was a pretty lengthy thread on this maybe a few years back. Busboy pretty well summed it up though.

strait line driving tripples work great but if your going to have to make a lot of tight turns get the duals

Same as stated above, Ive pulled boats numerous times that were on triple axle trailers and they do not like to turn sharp, especially backing into tight places. I think you can get a tandem dualled gooseneck that has a higher gross weight rating than something with triple singles... Do you want 8 tires on the road instead or 6? My next one will be a tandem dually.

Sound pretty unanimous Dual tandems is the way to go.

OK now the Legal part, being this will be for personal use will I be exempt from a CDL or will I need one because the gcvw will be 36,000. I will be hauling a loaded 1stgen puller with a slide in pickup camper over the neck of the trailer, on a select few occassions I will be pulling 2 loaded 1stgen pullers

Heres what we were thing about getting but in 35' flavor

I vote dual tandems.

Specially if you tow a top heavy load. If it goes to swaying the duals really help keep it steady.

The only thing I can think triples would be good for is reducing the pin weight on the rear axle. If thats not an issue then doubles would be my pick. Also, if your pulling any trailer and grossing over 26,000 then you'll need a class A.

Most of the hotshot drivers in the Oil Patch like the triples for going into muddy oilfield roads here in Alberta Canada. But for straight hiway I would go with duals.

Still need a class A in most states for the weight. All oil field guys around dont even want tripples. Every one rund duals unless there livestock trailers.

You will need a CDL. Personal use doesn't exempt from CDL.
