Trailer Deck Rust Removal

Trailer Deck Rust Removal
I recently picked up a steel diamond plate decked trailer and it has surface rust. No pitting yet. I read somewhere that you can use tannic acid to turn rust into a primer so it can be painted but I don't remember the details and I cant find the post. Does anyone know anything about this or have any ideas on how to treat this rust so I can paint it? I just want to roll on some bedliner but I need to take care of this rust first I dont want to have to paint it again in a year? Thanks

If it isnt too bad, try going over the surface with a stiff wire wheel to remove the majority of the rust then follow it up with the above mentioned product.

Rusty Deck
Use CorroSeal, turns the rust black and makes it all good. Make sure you wire wheel it or something before hand to get it knocked down. Use it at work regularly, on tugboats, great stuff.

There are many "rust converting primers" on the market.
Try going to your local Body-Shop supplier & asking them if they have Marhyde Rust Converter. I recently paid around $27+tax for a 1 Litre bottle. It is pretty thick right out of the bottle. I thinned mine with a bit of water to make it flow better.
