Towed the most i've towed today with the cummins
Well it's not a lot compared to the guys who load up crazy amounts, lol. But it was the most i've put behind my truck. I think it was like 9k or so (6k skid, and 2500 trailer, and 500 bucket), I think my truck wieghs 7? so 16k gross... The thing pulled great, no lack of power, and pulled nice and smooth. I can only compare this to my chevy 3/4ton I had before, but it's no comparison, which it should be, but it was cool to finally put some more wieght behind it. The 5spd is great when u start pulling heavier loads. oh, and did a huge amount of work with that little skid steer, I need to get one of those soon... heres a couple pics [coffee]

Well that was fun, lol. Had some problems with the trailer brakes on the way in. They had a 6 pin type connector on the trailer, and my truck has the prong style. They had a adapter for it, but we couldn't get the trailer brakes to work the first day. So I turned the adapter to see if the pins were matching my wiring. I got the brakes to work, but they would just slam on when I hit the pedal, I tried adjusting my controller but it didn't matter, and also everytime I used a turn signal the brakes would apply everytime the light blinked, lol. So I just unhooked the brakes and drove the rest of the way... I think i need a prodigy controller, and to check my trailer connector's wiring....

hey how'd you get that dog to stand on its two front feet like that? 2nd pic.

Pulled acrosed the cat scales after filling up with fuel with my wife, dog and 32' fifth wheel total weight 23,700 lb..[roll]
|
lol, she was jumping off the trailer.
and i figured out why the brakes were freaking out. The level knob on the controller was way off so it was pretty much at the most aggressive setting. |
My dog can read...he LOVES the "CAT" scales...thinks we're going somewhere where he will get a shot at a really big cat.....although constantly disappointed he still likes the ride....

Towing
The first time I hooked up my 32' fiver I was giggling like a kid in a toy store with a blank check!! The wife was wonderin' what drugs I was on! I can relate to the fun of finally using a real truck to pull something! This is my first diesel as well and I'll never have anything else.
It's been great towing my fiver all over the state, I look forward to the passes now! Well, till the time the fuse in the towing box I built blew for the brakes and I went thru that stop sign, white knuckles, prayin' and sucking the seat cover up. Looks like some nice property you got there. Nice to see someone local on here! I live in B'ham as well. Enjoy the towing! Mike. |

BTW, do you really shoot a 338 lapua? You hang out at Kesselring's? |
Tow
Yes, and yes. I've learned not to be suprised that people all over the NW know of them. Spent to many paychecks there, live about 15 minutes away. Wife won't let me hang out there, it's to expensive!
