Spinal drive

I have a 05/ 3500 4x4 diesel and I pull a 33' travel trailer, when hooked up the trailer only squats the truck down to within an inch of the helper springs subsequently when hitting the expansion joints in the road or just rough road the suspension compresses and really drives your spine into an uncomfortable compression. I am thinking of taking off the helpers to avoid the impact. Does anyone else have this problem?

I used to take the overload brackets off my 93 when not carrying the camper. I welded nuts to a plate attached to the frame so I could do it quickly. At any rate removing the brackets they hit is easier than removing the springs.

The ones on my truck are welded on.

Spinal Drive? I thought that was the only engine in Star Trek that went to warp 11...

Sounds like you need to invest in a weight distribution hitch. It will transfer some of the hitch weight to the front of the truck and make the ride much smother. If you do have one, it may not be setup right or your trailer may be overloaded. I have 30' and with a wdh, it pulls like a dream.

How about something cheap and easy...zip tie some hockey pucks onto the spots where your overload springs will hit, so before they hit steel they hit rubber, and are already in contact with the rigid portion through the rubber pucks, that or you could add some height to the springs to make them catch about 1.5" sooner.

what about air bags or coil over shocks?
