I towed 4 nissan titans and a powerstroke in tandem. Just kidding! But I did haul approx. 14,000 lbs of rough cut wet white oak lumber, 12 and 16 footers. My truck knew it was back there, but that was before I had done any power mods, just exhaust.

I may be stupid or crazy for doing so, but I did not want to make multiple trips to the supply yard, so I had the load operator drop 3 yards of road base in my bed, each weighing in at 1 ton by what I was told. The truck about levelled out, didnt even sag at all in the rear. Not exactly sure what my trucks empty weight is, though that was approx. a 6000 lb load.

Had to go up a hill that is windy and about an 8th mile long, dropped it into first gear and just went right up, no problems. Boy did that exhaust sound good (was right after I got my straight pipe done).

Worst part about everything was once I got home, I had to shovel it into 5 gallon buckets and carry each one about 20 feet and lift it up and over and dump it behind a 4' retaining wall we were building. No hired help was on the job except for my friend who was working for beer.

That was a fun day, and I learned the capabilities of my powerhouse of a truck!

I think another time I may have had a load of stucco and brick that weighed around 6800 lbs in the bed, though that story is not as good, since it was just another day in the construction business . The above story was for a job at my house, so I vividly remember it

I've towed it probably 5 times now (it's a rental). Not too far either probably 60 miles round trip. The backhoe itself was 18,500 dry, my truck about 8,000 and the trailer probably around 8ish?? trailer itself is pretty dang heavy deck over goose, tools boxes, fold up ramps...

No, home is in the country bout 90 miles south of dallas. Was on the highway for most of those miles from Fairfiled to Palestine and Richland Chambers Lake. Small two lane hwy (still with 70mph limits though). Passed many cops and a few troopers that got me a bit puckered but I was traveling at a safe speed and I guess they either didn't notice or think I was a big enough threat...

My typical work load is usually 26000 lbs - 32000lbs. Have pulled 37 - 380000lbs a time or two , but the truck didn't like it too much.[IMG][/IMG]

You forgot the 30' travel trailers attached to the Titans.

Thumbs up

15,000# fire truck chained down @ four points on my 7,000# equipment trailer behind my 8200# truck = 30,200# from NJ down the interstate @ 70 MPH to Miami FL. All axles were within their ratings, entire rig was 2,000# under maximum combined GVW ratings - rolled across every scale with a green light - averaged around 12mpg.

Anyone ever have a goose hitch bust on them? I have been up to about 28k on my fold down 25k hitch. Just liked the fold down instead of the turn over.

Well I have had 15,000 lbs of water and chemicals on our 24ft dual tandem gooseneck before. Other times when we haul hay the loads can range from 15,000 lbs to 20,000 lbs easily. Not bad for a 2500 with overload springs.

Made a run down to the coast to get hay this past weekend. Borrowed a friends 30 ft dovetail, weighs about 7200 lb empty. Loaded it with 12 round bales that might weigh 1000 lb each. I estimate I was pulling in area of 19,200 lb, more or less. Ran the return trip of about 200 miles at 55 mph, except for thru towns. Overhead says I averaged 9.5 mpg overall. Take offs were slow, but once up to speed, the truck did ok. Only put it in tow mode on a few of the bigger hills. Had one really steep hill coming out of a river bottom. Second gear and 35mph was all I could muster by the time I got to the top.
I don't have a pic but it would be similar to the one TxDiesel posted, except I had two of the bales on top and my truck did not squat near that much .
